For Marvel fans, Disney+ day became a day of celebration in more ways than one. Marvel Studios released a slate of first look teasers for its upcoming Disney+ shows, including the much awaited Ms. Marvel.

Just short of 30 seconds, the teaser opens with the protagonist Kamala Khan looking up at a fixture of Captain Marvel. The young teen, who idolises the superhero, laments that young girls like her are not exactly the kind who end up ‘saving the world’.

The clip also shows her surrounded by a surreal energy force, signalling how she gets her powers and is transformed into the titular superhero, Ms Marvel. Glimpses of her donning a suit whose colours and patterns resemble that of Captain Marvel, are also seen.

The series stars Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. She shares the screen with Saagar Shaikh, Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur.

The first look teaser was released by Marvel Studios on the occasion of Disney+ Day 2021, which marked the streaming giant’s second anniversary. Teasers for Moon Knight and She-Hulk were also released during the event.

Ms. Marvel is created by Bisha K. Ali, who also serves as it’s head writer. The character will also make an appearance in the upcoming MCU film The Marvels, which will also see Brie Larson reprise her role as Captain Marvel.

The upcoming limited series is based on the Marvel comic character of the same name. The character made history by becoming Marvel’s first Muslim superhero to have her own line of comics, making her comic book debut in 2013.

Ms. Marvel will premiere on Disney+ in 2022. The six episode mini series will be a part of the fourth phase of the MCU.
