Mumbaikar teaser: Vijay Sethupathi turns gangster in his Hindi film debut set against Mumbai

It's raining titles on JioCinema, from movies to series. After launching the trailer for Bloody Daddy, the OTT platform has now unveiled the teaser for Mumbaikar. Vijay Sethupathi makes his Hindi film debut with this movie, which Santosh Sivan is the director of Mumbaikar is the Hindi remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Tamil film, Maanagaram. Mumbaikar also features Vikrant Massey, Hridhu Haroon, Sanjay Mishra, Ranvir Shorey, Tanya Maniktala, and Sachin Khedekar.

In Mumbaikar, a city-based thriller that follows the Hyperlink narrative connecting four young people from diverse backgrounds, the city itself will be treated as a key character, with its settings becoming an integral part of the story.

Earlier, while talking about Mumbaikar, Santosh said that Mumbai, like every city, has its own unique personality, and its name has come to represent the indomitable will to succeed. Mumbai attracts people like a magnet. Aspirants come from every corner of India and every major faith. Many people look to this place as their nirvana, their beacon of hope, and their source of magic. Here, a complete stranger has the potential to alter your entire existence, and a beating heart can be found right in the middle of the city! While Mumbai is a major city, being a Mumbaikar is a feeling. So, it's in the title. When it comes to the cast, they have a fascinating and diverse array of actors from many countries. And that's what makes it so magical.

Meanwhile, on being a part of Mumbaikar, Vikrant said that when he got the first call, for a day, he didn’t believe it was happening at all. The actor had a wide smile on his face for a week because Asoka is one of those films that he watches every time it airs on television.

The film is set to premiere on JioCinema while skipping theatrical release, on June 2, 2023.
