A decade ago, popular choreographer Murali master turned director with Namo Bhoothatma, a horror comedy starring Komal in the lead. The film was the Kannada remake of the Tamil film Yaamirukka Bayamey, which was an adaptation of a Korean movie called The Quiet Family. The filmmaker and actor have now reunited for Namo Bhoothatma 2, yet another horror comedy, which they are hoping to bring to theatres shortly.

In the run-up to this, the team released the teaser of the film, which also stars Lekha Chandhra, GG, Varun, Monica, Mahantesh, among others. Action Prince Dhruva Sarja, who has a long-time association with Murali master, released the teaser of the film on July 1. Speaking at the teaser launch, leading man Komal said that the 10 year gap between the two films with Murali master is because there were other films that the actor wanted him to direct, which he didn’t take up and it is only now that they have been able to collaborate. This time around, the team has taken up a story of a group of friends who encounter ‘evil spirits’ in a house

Meanwhile, the team, we hear, has already sold the film’s satellite and digital rights. Considering that the original Namo Bhoothatma was snapped up by Sun Network, it was expected that the next instalment would also go to them and that’s exactly how it’s worked out. Namo Bhoothatma will be available on Sun NXT and Udaya TV after its theatrical run. Dates, of course, are yet to be announced.

Namo Bhoothatma will be Komal’s second release since the pandemic. The actor’s film Undenaama came out earlier this year and was a washout at the box office. Undenaama was an adult comedy set against the pandemic.
