Murphy out now on OTT: Watch Prabhu Mundkur’s time travel romantic drama on THIS platform

Murphy, a Kannada film that filmmaker BSP Varma and actor Prabhu Mundkur spent a few years on, in writing and executing their idea, released in theatres in October. Armed with a unique plot and a cast that’s easy on the eyes, Varma presented a love story spanning two generations. Mundkur was in a double role in the film, which received a clean U censor certificate and has a run-time of a 142 minutes only.

Following its theatrical run, Varma and Mundkur had announced that they’d found a streaming partner for the film and that it would be on OTT shortly. It was later revealed that the film, like most other Kannada movies, was headed to Amazon Prime Video, with a December 6 release date. The film is now streaming on the platform.

Murphy revolves around Prabhu’s character David, his late father Joseph (also Prabhu), his granddad Richie (Dattanna), and a girl called Janani (Roshni Prakash). When Richie’s favourite radio becomes a tool of communication, after David tries to tinker with it, he gets to talk to Janani, a student at his college.

It is only when their attempts to meet on campus fail, that David and Janani realize that what’s keeping them apart is time. Janani, as it turns out, is in 1996, and has her heart set on a college lecturer. She is unsure if he has the same feelings for her. David tries to help Janani unite with the love of her life, but at what cost. That is the central plot of Murphy.

The film also stars Ila Veermala as David’s girlfriend, while the supporting cast includes Ashwin Rao Pallaki and Mahantesh Hiremath, with Varma chipping in for a cameo. Arjun Janya, Sylvester Pradeep, Rajat Hegde and Keerthan Holla share credits for the songs of Murphy.
