The first song of the upcoming film Faraaz, directed by Hansal Mehta, released recently. The song, Musafir Ko Ghar Hi Jaana Hai, is beautifully penned by Sameer Rahat, who also composed the tune. It has struck a chord with audiences as it encapsulates the pain and loss of a loved one, which is the core theme of the film.
The melancholic tune of the song, sung by Vidhya Gopal, with the visual that shows how a mother loses her son, who tried to save others' lives in a terror attack, has been leaving listeners in tears.
The story of Faraaz is based on the life of Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain, a 20-year-old Bangladeshi Muslim boy who was killed during the July 2016 Dhaka terrorist attacks, when a group of terrorists opened fire and killed innocent people at the Holey Artisan Bakery. The incident was one of the deadliest Islamist attacks in the history of Bangladesh.
Debutant actor Zahan Kapoor, grandson of the late actor Shashi Kapoor, plays the title role. The film also stars Aditya Rawal, Juhi Babbar, Aamir Ali, Sachin Lalwani, Jatin Sarin, Ninad Bhatt, Harshal Pawar, Palak Lalwani, and Reshham Sahaani, among others.
Faraaz is directed by Hansal Mehta, who is known for critically-acclaimed films and series based on true-life incidents, in films such as Shahid, Aligarh, and Omerta, as well as web series such as Scam 1992. This time, he has collaborated with his long-time friend and filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who is the producer of Faraaz.
The makers had earlier held a screening for Zahan and his family, which was attended by his father Kunal Kapoor, mother Sheena Sippy, cousin Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Neetu Kapoor, Ramesh Sippy, Rohan Sippy, Navya Naveli Nanda, and Shweta Bachchan, among others. Everybody showered a lot of love on the film.
The film releases in theatres on February 3.
