Music School, a musical focusing on a child’s need to explore their passions and interests beyond academics, is written, directed and produced by Paparao Biyyala, a popular bureaucrat. Sharman Joshi, Shriya Saran, Shaan played the lead roles in the film produced under Yamini Films. The film was simultaneously made in Hindi and Telugu and dubbed in other languages later.

The film released in theatres across multiple languages on May 12 this year and earned reasonable reviews from critics, but evoked a modest response from theatre-going crowds. Nearly four months after its theatrical release, Music School is now out on OTT. Amazon Prime Video acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the Hindi version and decided to premiere the film this weekend.

The musical has an ensemble cast comprising Gracy Goswami, Ozu Barua, Prakash Raj, Benjamin Gilani, Suhasini Mulay, Bugs Bhargava, Leela Samson, Mona Ambegaonkar, Srikanth Iyengar, Vinay Varma, Phani Eggone, Vaquar Shaikh, Karthikeya Chowdary Gadde, Vivan Jain Munoth, Olivia Charan, G Rohan Roy, Aadhya Panditharadhyula, Siddiksha and Kushee Soni.

The story revolves around a drama teacher and a music teacher at a school, who struggle to persuade parents of young students of the value of extracurricular activities. In the school, Manoj (Sharman Joshi), who teaches dramatics, is joined by a new music instructor, Mary D'Cruz (Shriya Saran). How far do they go in explaining the relevance of extracurricular activities in the children’s lives?

Ilaiyaraaja scored the music for the film while Kiran Deohans is the cinematographer. Rajeev Nair is the art director and Manan Sagar is the editor. Adam Murray, Chinni Prakash, Raju Sundaram choreographed the songs and Shivani Tibrewala, Vinay Varma wrote the Hindi dialogues. Akshay Balsaraf is the executive producer and Venkat Siddareddy, Mahendra Sisodia are the creative producers. Yamini Rao is the associate producer.
