The untitled film centres on the ups and downs of a young musician, tracing the whole trajectory of his start from scratch to the rise to fame.

Speaking on his acting debut, the Nain Bengali singer shared how venturing into acting was expanding his horizons and capabilities and helped him rediscover himself all over again. He labelled the film a ‘dream project’ and added that he is looking forward to filming for it.

Randhawa told The Times of India that he had been harbouring the dream of becoming an actor in Bollywood. The musician, who writes, composes, sings, and stars in his songs, added that working in music videos with Mrunal Thakur, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Nora Fatehi helped him ease up in front of the camera.

When asked what drew him to Bollywood, he said that the entire filmmaking process including screenplay, choreography, casting and writing, attracts him to the Hindi film industry. He also said that he has been inspired by the work of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Irrfan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, some of whom he has even sung and composed songs for.

Endemol Shine India is backing the project.

Abhishek Rege, CEO of Endemol Shine India has added that Randhawa’s loyal fan base will be especially excited to see him make his acting debut. While the cast isn't locked yet, the makers call the film a ‘rollercoaster ride with good music. The musician, popular for 'Suit Suit' ('Hindi Medium'), High Rated Gabru' ('Nawabzaade'), 'Morni Banke' ('Badhaai Ho') and 'Lagdi Lahore Di' ('Street Dancer 3D') was signed on for the film a month ago.

The film will go on floors later this year.
