Director Mysskin's much-awaited horror thriller, Pisasu 2, featuring Andrea Jeremiah in the lead, will hit screens on August 31, this year. The makers took to Twitter to announce the news.

The film is a sequel to Mysskin's 2014 horror film, Pisasu. This one has Vijay Sethupathi in a cameo role. Reports suggest that he plays a doctor in Pisasu 2.

Pisasu was a roaring success and horror genre lovers have begun to expect something similar if not better from Pisasu 2, which has been co-directed by Eswari.

The sequel to Pisasu also features Rajkumar Pitchumani (of Psycho-fame), Poorna (of Savarakathi-fame), Namita Krishnamurthy and Santhosh Pratap (of Sarpatta Parambarai-fame) in crucial roles. Pisasu 2 has music by Ilaiyaraaja's elder son, Karthik Raja and is produced by T Muruganantham, under the banner of Rockfort Entertainment, who have distributed films like Meesaya Murukku, Meyadha Maan and Naan Sirithal.

Shot primarily in Tamil, Pisasu 2 will be dubbed and released in three languages; Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Meanwhile, Andrea, last seen in Aranmanai 3, has a slew of films in the pipeline, including Kaa, Maaligai, Anel Meley Pani Thuli, Vattam and so on.

In an interview with a leading English daily, Mysskin said the paranormal is highly unexplored as a subject. "However, people have a negative idea of it because of what we’ve seen in movies and heard from stories," he added.

The director said he intended to give it a new angle without necessarily proving that ghosts exist. It's only at the editing table that Mysskin realises what he has and what he does not have in the process of filmmaking. "I am often asked why I only make dark movies. Having read a lot of psychological literature, I enjoy creating psychological films," he said.

"When I write, I try to understand the motivations of characters. For instance, what makes a worthless man become a police officer when he wears khaki? Is there any reason a man becomes a criminal when he fails to become a police officer? I am interested in these motivations. If they're dark, I can't help myself!"
