Director Deepu Anthikad’s comeback directorial Naalaam Mura, which hit theatres in December, is finally streaming on a leading OTT platform. The movie, which has Biju Menon and Guru Somasundaram in the lead, is an interrogation drama that has the two veteran actors indulging in mind games.
The film revolves around a group of police officers to crack a long-unsolved murder case. Minnal Murali actor Guru plays the role of an expatriate named Jayesh, who is immediately picked up by crime-branch officers after he lands in Kochi airport and transferred to a remote facility, where he is interrogated for the crime. Jayesh, however, denies any involvement but the cops begin to bend the rules as they push him hard to admit to a crime that he may or may not have committed.
In an earlier interview with us, the film’s director Deepu said that the movie is based on true incidents. “It’s a suspense drama and there are plot devices in place so that the viewers can’t really figure out who is the hero and who is the villain in this till the end. There are a lot of emotional elements. Through the story, we show the problems that people have to face,” said the director, adding that the film is more of a “cerebral tussle” between its two protagonists.
The movie, which was shot in Peermade and Kuttikanam, was co-scripted by Deepu and police officer Sooraj V Dev, who had drawn from his real-life experience working in crime branch investigation to write the film.
Apart from Biju Menon and Guru Somasundaram, the film also has Divya Pillai, Alencier Ley Lopez, Prashanth Alexander, Santhi Priya, Sheelu Abraham and Surabhi Santosh in pivotal roles. Naalaam Mura is currently streaming on Manorama Max.
