Independent filmmaker Abhilash Shetty’s second film in his proposed Koli trilogy, Naale Rajaa Koli Majaa had a good festival run, after which he released it in theatres a month ago. The film opened to largely positive reviews, which is why despite the absence of an established star cast, a limited release, and minimal box office returns, it has still managed an OTT streaming deal. Naale Rajaa Koli Majaa dropped on Amazon Prime Video as of June 13, 2025. The first film in the series, Koli Taal is also on the platform, albeit for rent only.
Naale Rajaa Koli Majaa is set in the same universe as Abhilash’s earlier Koli Taal. While the first film was about an elderly couple’s desperate attempts to make a special chicken curry for a grandson who was visiting them after long, only to find the rooster go missing, this time, the same couple have to deal with another grandchild. Like Koli Taal, Naale Rajaa Koli Majaa also stars Prabhakar Kunder (as Mahabala Shetty) and Radha Ramchandra (as Vanaja) as the grandparents.
Young Sneha (Samruddi Kundapura) and her adventure to get her hands on some chicken meat is at the crux of this film. When the Sunday special chicken curry plans go awry at Sneha’s house because her father is unable to get the meat on account of Gandhi Jayanti, she hatches a plan to send him on a hunt for the elusive meat. Knowing that he will move mountains to procure some alcohol on a ‘dry day’, Sneha empties her father’s reserve stock, forcing him to venture out.

And since he’s anyway going from pillar to post for a couple of pegs, she tags along, in the hope of finding a meat shop that’s open and, more importantly, still has chicken meat in stock. With no luck back home, Sneha heads to her grandparents’ place, in the hope that they’d slaughter one of their chicken to feed her. Does she get to eat chicken curry to her heart’s content?
