Set against the backdrop of one of the sprawling estates in Ooty, Naangal revolves around an educationalist Rajkumar who lives with his three young sons and a dog. A separated father, Naangal revolves around the father’s authoritarian ruling over the house, which shows severe impact on his three sons, who do all the household chores and study as well. Naangal serves as a portrait of a dysfunctional family. The film also stemmed out of the director’s personal experiences.

The cast of Naangal includes Mithun V, Rithvik M, Nithin D, Abdul Rafe, Prarthana Srikkanth, John E, Tanika Guruprasad, K. Hariharan, and others. The film is written and directed by Avinash Prakash, who has also shot and edited the feature. Ved Shanker Sugavanam scored the music. Naangal had a festival run, and was screened in Rotterdam Film Festival, Mostra Sao Paulo International Film Festival, Jio MAMI Film Festival, and the Bengaluru International Film Festival, among others.
