RRR has done the unthinkable - the popular dance number from the film, Naatu Naatu, was adjudged the winner in the Best Song Motion Picture category at the Golden Globe Awards. The dance number, which symbolises the spirit of the country with a folksy twist in the film, written by Chandrabose and sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, was celebrated across the globe sans barriers.

With the Golden Globes victory, Naatu Naatu has scripted history and is officially the first-ever Asian song to win at the event. The song appears at a critical moment in the film where Jr NTR, Ram Charan a.k.a Bheem and Ram are headed to a party hosted by a group of Britishers in Delhi. Jennifer, a good friend of Bheem, invites him to the party.

Prior to the song, Britishers insult Bheem and his inability to perform Western dance forms and challenges him to do better. Ram, to help his friend, asks him, if he knows Naatu Naatu and the duo breaks into a song. Choreographed by Prem Rakshith, it features two of the finest dancers in Telugu cinema, Jr NTR and Ram Charan and we bet it’s hard to pick your favourite between the two.

Naatu Naatu, in the context of the film, is a fitting response to the Britishers on what India is all about, with several references to local traditions and customs. Upon the release of the number, Naatu Naatu inspired millions across the globe to come up with Instagram reels trying to recreate Jr NTR, Ram Charan’s moves and proved to be an effective storytelling tool in the context of the film too.

With the song also being shortlisted for Oscars 2023, the Golden Globes win couldn’t have come at a better time for team RRR. When Ram Charan launched the Telugu version of Pathaan's trailer, Shahrukh Khan too wrote, “Thank u so much my Mega Power Star @alwaysramcharan. When ur RRR team brings Oscar to India, please let me touch it!! (Mee RRR team Oscar ni intiki tecchinappudu okkasaari nannu daanini touch cheyyanivvandi! )Love you.”
