When he was asked why he cast Prabhas in a fun role, and this aspect has upset the fans a bit, Nag Ashwin said, "I was sick and tired of seeing Prabhas in serious roles for the last few years. He is only doing action, and Prabhas has a very fun side to him, which he seldom discloses. So, I thought it would be a great idea to showcase Prabhas in a fun avatar in Kalki. His role gets bigger and more serious in the sequel, and I hope fans will not have any issues when Kallki 2 comes out".
