Naga Shaurya, who only had one release last year- Krishna Vrinda Vihari- is back with his second release in 2023, a mass entertainer Rangabali, directed by debutant Pawan Basamsetti. The film releases in theatres on July 7. At the film’s pre-release event held in Hyderabad yesterday, the actor relived his memories working on the project and expressed confidence of its fortunes at the box office.

“Regardless of the scale of the film, always doing her best to help and wish the directors, producers before every release, I’m grateful to (our host) Suma garu for her support for the industry. There was one person who thought of me as he heard the script of Rangabali and felt I would be perfect for it - he’d be watching this event on television now; I wholeheartedly thank him,” he said.

“I and Sudhakar Cherukuri have been planning to work on a film for a long time now and have been hunting for the right story. When we both heard Pawan’s narration, we were confident of scoring a blockbuster. I’m asking the universe; I want nothing less than a blockbuster verdict for Rangabali - I don’t want an average film, hit or super hit,” Naga Shaurya shared.

“I haven’t been this confident about any film in the recent past; probably I was aware of their results at the back of my mind. I am sure we’re giving a good, entertaining film for viewers. My producer will make huge profits out of this. Yukti Thareja is a beautiful, innocent girl who’s acted well; I wouldn’t want to praise her too much, my wife may be watching the event too (laughs),” he added.

He thanked the crew - cinematographers Divakar Mani, Vamsi Patchipulusu, composer Pawan Ch - and many of his c0-stars - Satya Akkala, Ravi Kumar Kasireddy and Noel Sean who worked on the project and remembered a scene for which he took 45 takes. Shaurya called the director Pawan Basamsetti a genuine person and said he made the film with a lot of responsibility. “I even had the privilege of naming his daughter,” the actor mentioned.
