Telugu producer Naga Vamsi, who has backed successful films like Lucky Baskhar, and Tillu Square in 2024, became the center of attention after he participated in a recent producer's roundtable and had opposing views to that of Hindi film producer Boney Kapoor. While many construed that the argument between the producers made Naga Vamsi come across as disrespectful of Boney Kapoor, the Telugu producer defended his words and said there was "no disrespect" towards Boney Kapoor.

Naga Vamsi says he means “no disrespect” towards Boney Kapoor

With 2024’s end, producers Naga Vamsi and Boney Kapoor along with other producers took part in a roundtable held by a YouTube channel recently. In the conversation, Naga Vamsi brought up the point of how many Hindi films get influenced by South films given the number of hits the latter industry has had in 2024.

While Naga Vamsi said that profits are a priority while making risky films with unconventional subjects, Boney Kapoor contradicted by bringing in the example of Jathi Rathnalu which was made by producers Kalki 2898 AD producers, and made more profits. The roundtable also witnessed a heated exchange of words between Naga Vamsi and Boney Kapoor, when the former said that Hindi films are not taken beyond Juhu and Bandra.

Their conversation did not go well on social media with some calling out Naga Vamsi for being disrespectful of Boney Kapoor. Director Hansal Mehta was one of them who called out Vamsi for being disrespectful towards Boney Kapoor.

What did Naga Vamsi respond?

Industry tracker Sumil Kadel called out Naga for disrespecting Boney Kapoor and said it was unnecessary. “Let’s not forget that Hindi box office collections have played a big role in helping South films grow on a larger scale. Criticism is fine, but disrespect is not OK. ARROGANCE LEADS TO DOWNFALL and that is applied to everyone across the industries,” he posted on X.

To this, Naga Vamsi replied saying that they respect elders that he does, and that no teaching is necessary.

“You don’t need to teach us how to respect elders, we respect boney ji more than u guys do and there was no disrespect towards boney ji in that conversation,” he wrote and added that the discussion was healthy after which they hugged each other.
