Nagarjuna on Kuberaa: Sekhar Kammula fulfilled my 15-year-old dream

Kuberaa is one of the most-awaited films in Telugu cinema, as it features Nagarjuna teaming up with the likes of Dhanush for the very first time. Sekhar Kammula, of Godavari, Happy Days, and Leader fame, has directed this social drama, which is set to release on June 20, 2025.

Promotions are in full swing, and the makers recently unveiled a new song in Mumbai. Speaking at the launch, Nagarjuna revealed that he had grown bored of playing the same old characters repeatedly and had stopped signing new films—until Kuberaa came to him.
“I was looking forward to a director who would showcase me in a new avatar, and that’s when Sekhar Kammula came to me with Kuberaa. It has been my dream to work with Sekhar for the past fifteen years, and it has finally come true with Kuberaa,” said Nagarjuna.
Adding further, he said that Kuberaa is a film that will become a major talking point once it's released. “Dhanush has a crazy role, and the way my character is interwoven with his has been superbly showcased by Sekhar. He’s trying something very different from what he usually makes, and I had to be a part of it,” Nagarjuna added.
The star also revealed that, moving forward, he will only take on roles that excite him. “My next film, Coolie, will also showcase me in a crazy avatar. I’m in the best phase of my career, doing different kinds of films, because I was tired of the kind of work I had been doing,” he concluded.
Nagarjuna praises DSP for his music
Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music for the film, and his work on this social drama is slowly gaining traction with the audience. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, and speaking about her, Nagarjuna said that the Chalo actress is a powerhouse of talent, adding that no one else has delivered as many big hits as Rashmika has in recent times.
Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights to the film for a hefty price and will stream Kuberaa in the second week of July 2025.
