Actor Nakuul Mehta has been much-loved as Ram in the hit TV series, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2. But after 1.5 years with the show, the actor confirmed to Hindustan Times that he will not be a part of the show any longer. In an interview, he spoke about how it has been a “satisfying, enriching and fulfilling” journey with the show, and now he feels it is time to move on.

Nakuul said that despite initial doubts on remaking an already loved show, he was happy that people showered it and him with a lot of love. He believes it to be “truly special” and feels that the show has a long journey ahead, in which there is nothing new for him to add or bring to the table. “I will miss playing Ram,” he said.

Nakuul added that although it is tempting to stay on and continue to play Ram and bask in the glory of the show, he has paid his dues to both the makers and the audience in the last year and a half, and now it is time to go. He is looking to “challenge” himself and seeks to prepare for bigger and newer things now.

Saying that actors are “in the business of wanting to borrow the viewers’ time,” Nakuul said that he doesn’t want to take this for granted and wants to bring something new to his audience.  “For me, I need to go back to live life again,” he said in the interview, adding that sets are mere summaries of life and that “the credibility of wanting to sample my next project continues. That’s kind of hard to earn in this industry is what I’ve learnt along the way.”

The actor has had a 10-year-long career, in which he has acted in three TV shows. His most recent TV show, Ishqbaaz, exhausted him to such an extent that he took a break for four years.
