Tamil actress Namitha is launching Namitha Theatre next month where young filmmakers will get an opportunity to showcase their work.
Tamil audiences have seen actor Namitha in an array of roles in films like Azhagiya Tamil Margar and Singham. The actress is back to expand the list of movies that are available to watch online by launching her own OTT platform called Namitha Theatre. She made the official announcement in a statement released on Wednesday.
Namita Theatre is meant exclusively for short stories and movies that are based on real-life incidents. The intention behind creating the OTT platform is to provide young filmmakers a chance to pursue their small and medium budget films without worrying about which platform they will find an audience on.
The actress first hinted at the launch of the platform earlier this month when she shared a video of her voicing the promo.
Though the exact details of when the platform will go live are yet to be revealed, Namitha has shared that she will be starting Namitha Theatre in partnership with Ravi Verma.
"As I was having various ideas, I came across Mr. Ravi Varma, who has been a graduate with Diploma in Film Technology and later ventured into several corporate businesses. It was Ravi who suggested an OTT Platform that completely promotes and exhibits content that is made based on true incidents," divulged Namitha in her statement.
Elaborating on a tentative date to launch the platform, she said: "We are looking forward to a perfect date next month to make our announcements pertaining to the first league of contents that will be released on Namitha Theatre."
