Telugu actor Nani, known for his versatile roles, was last seen in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram. He is now gearing up for the release of HIT: The Third Case, which is set to release on May 1. The action thriller features Nani as IPS Arjun Sarkar, who is known to be fierce in what seems to be an action-oriented role. Recently, in an interview, Nani opened up about police custodial violence and its portrayal in films.
With just a month to go for the release of the third instalment in the HIT franchise, actor Nani has begun promotions for the film, and sat with a YouTube channel to speak about his work. The conversation also touched on the portrayal of custodial violence.
In HIT 3, Nani plays Arjun Sarkar, who is known to be brutal to his targets. The actor was asked about the police brutality and how his previous film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram had an antagonist cop who was similarly violent, and when is police brutality justifiable. He replied, “No, it is not justifiable, no matter what. We might make a film and show the protagonist but it is not justifiable for sure. When the cause is bigger, for example, in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, Daya's (played by SJ Suryah) character is greedy. In HIT 3, Arjun Sarkar is violent, and there is a solid purpose. When he goes in a certain direction and crack it, there will be collateral damage, and it is okay for a bigger purpose.”
Nani also said that it has not been justifiable, and in certain instances, the character thinks on what he is doing.
Slated to release on May 1, the film is written and directed by Sailesh Kolanu. The film is the third instalment in the HIT franchise, the earlier two parts starring Adivi Sesh and Vishwak Sen as protagonists.
HIT 3 also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Adil Pala, Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji, and Maganti Srinath.
