Nani has never sounded more confident about any film as much as Shyam Singha Roy in his career. The optimism is quite evident whenever he's taken the stage to talk about this magnum-opus, where he's playing a double role - including the title role and Vasu, set in different timelines. The film is directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Venkat Boyanapalli of Niharika Entertainment. Shyam Singha Roy's pre-release event was held in Warangal yesterday, where he elaborated on the many memories of working on this project.
"Me..Sai Pallavi..this very place, we had met before for MCA. Get ready to witness another spectacle on December 24. I didn't come here because MCA was a blockbuster or that I have a sentiment with Warangal. All along, while we were shooting for MCA, there were positive vibes around this place and we couldn't resist coming back. There's a great amount of satisfaction when you do a quality film. There may be so many films releasing week after week but I know what a good film we have on hand," he said.
Is the actor worried about the box office race and tight competition? Not quite, from what he says. "Many are wondering if Shyam Singha Roy will get sandwiched between Pushpa and RRR, but you need to understand that the stuffing between two slices of bread in a sandwich is always special. I know how satisfied will audiences be with Shyam Singha Roy on December 24 because I've watched the film. This Christmas is going to be ours and it'll be a feast. I didn't want to judge Rahul Sankrityan by watching his first film, but now for the fact I've watched Shyam Singha Roy, I'm confident that he'll be among the best directors that Telugu cinema has ever produced."
He had special words of praise for the producer and the film's crew. "My producer, Venkat Boyanapalli, treats me like his own kid. I don't know if he pampered his kids in real life but I was treated royally on the sets of the film from day one. I can't thank him enough for the trust and love. Niharika Entertainment will be home for me and my association with Venkat (Garu) will go a long way. Cinematographer Sanu John Varghese and editor Navin Nooli worked with me for Jersey in the past and I hope to keep working with them again and again. The art director Avinash has also done a fantastic job. I thank the entire team behind this film."
Talking about his co-stars Sai Pallavi, Krithi Shetty, Nani stated, "There's a song in the film where I'm supposed to be awestruck watching Sai Pallavi dance and I really didn't have to act in that sequence. Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry's lyrics for the song are just phenomenal - he had to research so many books on Durga to work on it and it has blown our mind. Krithi's approach towards her work has truly taken me by surprise - she works so hard to get into the skin of her character, understand the story, have multiple discussions with me and Rahul. I am sure she's destined to go places."
