Telugu movie star Nani turned a year older on Friday. As his 39th birthday fell on a Friday, it made him nostalgic. And he took to Twitter to express gratitude to his fans for making him who he's today. "I was a Friday release on 24th feb, 1984 Last 15 years I was born again and again on so many Friday’s :) This Friday all I have is gratitude for all your love and I look forward to celebrating many more together," he wrote on his Twitter account.

In the early 2000s, Nani started his career in the film industry as an assistant director. He assisted a few known film directors including Bapu, K. Raghavendra Rao, Suresh Krishna and others. And he was working on a movie script to venture on his own as a filmmaker when his acting skills got the attention of director Mohan Krishna. Nani was assisting Mohan and as an assistant director, his job also required him to enact lines to help the actors understand what was expected of them. Mohan, who noticed his talent in acting, offered a key role in Ashta Chamma. The film received positive reviews and Nani's performance made an impression on the audience.

Before he knew it, Nani was flooded with movie offers and he has never looked back. Nani is one of the most bankable actors in Telugu cinema. Besides acting, Nani also produces medium and small-budget movies under his production banner Wall Poster Cinema.

Nani was last seen in a full-fleged role in Ante Sundaraniki. Despite the good reviews, it failed to make a dent at the box office. He later made a cameo appearance in HIT: The Second Case, which was produced by him. And he's now waiting for the release of Dasara. The film has created quite a hype thanks to Nani's wild performance as a working-class rebel.

Dasara is due in cinemas on March 30.
