The Malayalam film Narivetta, starring Tovino Thomas in the lead, has dropped online, a day in advance. Helmed by Anuraj Manohar, the film is now streaming on SonyLiv via OTTplay Premium. From the realistic portrayal to the terrific cast, here’s everything you need to know about Tovino Thomas’ latest film.

Narivetta streaming on OTT

Narivetta, the latest Malayalam film, which released in theatres on May 23, started streaming on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium on July 10, 2025. Notably, SonyLiv had announced the official OTT release date of Narivetta to be July 11, 2025, but the film made its digital debut a day in advance. However, this is not exactly a surprise, as the platform has been releasing Malayalam films, especially, a day before the scheduled date. Unni Mukundan starrer Marco, Asif Ali-led Rekhachithram and even the most recent Alappuzha Gymkhana, starring Naslen, only landed on OTT earlier than expected.

Apart from Malayalam, Narivetta is available to stream in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on the platforms. The film, which also stars Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu and Tamil director-actor Cheran in key roles, won critics’ approval during its theatrical run but is expected to win more appreciation from a larger audience upon its OTT debut.

Why you should watch Narivetta on OTT

Narivetta tells a gripping story as a group of tribals protest the injustice they have been facing for long. But as they seek their land, they are met with strong opposition from the police, leading to a tense stand-off. Though the makers have denied that the film is based on the 2003 Muthanga stir in Kerala, the film makes for a compelling watch for its realistic portrayal and the fight for justice that it depicts. We also see the dilemma of some of the cops, at least, who are torn between their duty and basic human compassion.

The performances of Tovnio Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Cheran, and Arya Salim are the biggest driving force of the film, which is powered by Abin Joseph’s script.
