Narivetta release date: Tovino Thomas’ film with Suraj Venjaramoodu, Cheran set to hit theatres in May 2025

Tovino Thomas is currently busy with the promotions of Mohanlal-starrer L2 Empuraan, which is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. The second part in the Lucifer franchise, which will see Tovino back as Jathin Ramdas, is set to hit theatres this week. After L2E, the Minnal Murali star has another upcoming film slated for release in May. Tovino Thomas headlines Narivetta, which also has Suraj Venjaramoodu and Cheran. 

Tovino Thomas’ Narivetta to release on...

Starring Tovino Thomas, Narivetta is set to release in theatres on May 16, 2025. The team has confirmed the release date on social media. The film, directed by Anuraj Manohar, is currently in its post-production stage. 

A new poster released showed the lead stars Tovino, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Cheran in police uniforms. Notably, the trio appeared to be dispirited and downcast. 

Narivetta cast and crew

The Tovino Thomas-starrer marks the Malayalam debut of Tamil actor-filmmaker Cheran, who plays the role of R Keshavadas, a police officer. Suraj Venjaramoodu, who was once known for his comedy roles, also appears as a cop, named Basheer Ahammed. Aarya Salim, Priyamvada Krishnan, and Rini Udayakumar are also part of the upcoming Malayalam film.

Narivetta is helmed by Anuraj Manohar, whose debut film was Ishq, starring Shane Nigam and Ann Sheetal. 

Malayalam short story writer Abin Joseph has penned the film, marking his film scripting debut. Backed by Tippu Shah and Shiyas Hassan, the film has music by Jakes Bejoy, and cinematography by Vijay while editing is by Shameer Muhammed. Not much is known about the film's plot, but Narivetta is reportedly based on real incidents.

Tovino Thomas and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s films

Both Tovino Thomas and Suraj Venjaramoodu are part of the highly anticipated Empuraan, which is set to release worldwide on March 27, 2025. While Tovino was part of the 2019 film Lucifer too, Suraj is making his first appearance in the Lucifer trilogy with the second installment. 

Suraj is also making his Tamil debut with Vikram-starrer Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2, which is also set to release on March 27.
