Tovino Thomas promoted his upcoming Malayalam movie, Narivetta, which will be released on theatres on May 23, at an event in Kochi. The Identity star also responded to claims that he was involved in a Jr NTR project.
The actor denied reports that he would play a key part in Telugu actor Jr NTR's upcoming project. He stated that he has a few Malayalam films in the works that will keep him occupied for some time. Tovino stated that he would want to concentrate on acting and has no ambitions to make his directorial debut. "I am not sure. Perhaps a small-budget film that would be shown at film festivals would be my first directorial effort in the future. He went on to say, "I would definitely not make an action movie."
Additionally, the Maayanadhi star stated that he would rather be recognised as an actor than a star because the latter carries a great deal of responsibilities. "As actors, we are able to play any part, from adversary to protagonist. I think I still have a lot of acting to learn," Tovino remarked. The actor recently ventured into film production with Basil Joseph-starrer Maranamass.
Originally scheduled for release on May 16, the film is directed by Anuraj Manohar. However, for unclear reasons, it was postponed. It is anticipated that Tovino would give a subtle yet impactful performance in the movie. It is one of the most anticipated 2025 projects for the actor.
In this film, Cheran, a renowned Tamil actor and filmmaker, makes his Malayalam film debut. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Aarya Salim and Priyamvada Krishnan also play important parts in Narivetta. Abin Joseph, a well-known author, wrote the screenplay for the movie. Reports state that Narivetta is based on real-life incidents. It has also been reported that the movie will be released in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously.
