The office bearers of Nadigar Sangam comprising veteran actor Nassar, Karthi and Poochi Murugan, recently met Superstar Rajinikanth at his residence. It said that that the meeting that lasted around 45 minutes, was primarily about the matters of the Sangam. Pictures of the meeting in which the office bearers are listening to Rajinikanth in rapt attention is doing the rounds on the internet. While Nassar was reelected as the president of the Nadigar Sangam in the recently held elections, Vishal won the post of secretary and Karthi was elected as the treasurer. Poochi Murugan of the Pandavar Ani was elected as the Vice President. The election took place between members of the Nassar-led Pandavar Ani and the Bhagyaraj-led Swami Sankaradoss Ani. 

On the film front, Karthi has a slew of films in his kitty- Viruman, Sardar and Ponniyin Selvan to name a few. Karthi's Viruman, directed by Muthaiya, will be released in theatres on August 31 on the occasion of Vinayagar Chaturthi. Filmmaker Shankar's daughter Aditi is making her acting debut with the film, which also has Rajkiran, Prakash Raj, RK Suresh, Manoj, and Soori in pivotal roles. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Sardar is a spy action film, directed by PS Mithran, and has Karthi essaying dual roles after a decade-long hiatus. The story of Sardar is said to revolve around a father-son relationship and a cop who goes on to take risks to save his father, a prisoner. The film marks the comeback of Laila, who was one of the top stars of the early 2000s. Raashi Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan play the leading ladies. GV Prakash has scored the music. Film is likely to hit screens for Diwali.

Karthi is also part of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. The film is based on the 1955 historical fiction novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. AR Rahman has composed the film’s music. The first instalment from the two-part film will be released in theatres later this year in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
