The prestigious announcement surrounding the 69th National Film Awards 2023 is expected to be made this evening at 5 pm. From Nayattu to Jai Bhim to Gangubai Kathiawadi, there are many favourites that are expected to win major awards. Meanwhile, fans are rooting for SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa to keep the Telugu flag flying.

Viewers are expecting awards for Jr NTR, Ram Charan’s performances, K Senthil Kumar’s cinematography, composer MM Keeravaani’s album and also for RRR to win in the Best Regional film - Telugu category. Similarly for Pushpa, fans hope that Pushpa team including Allu Arjun, Sukumar and composer Devi Sri Prasad gets their due at the National Film Awards 2023.

In Malayalam, Nayattu, Minnal Murali, Meppadiyan, Home, Aavasavyuham and Chavittu are the strong contenders across multiple categories. Some of the favourites in other languages are R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (simultaneously made in Hindi and Tamil). There’s expected to be fierce competition between Alia Bhatt and Kangana Ranaut for Gangubai Kathiawadi and Thalaivi for the Best Actress award category.

The winners for the 68th National Awards 2022 in Telugu were S Thaman (Best Music Director), TV Rambabu (Best Make-up Artist), Sandhya Raju (Best Choreography) Angirekula Sandeep Raj and Sai Rajesh Neelam (Best Feature Film in Telugu for Colour Photo).

RRR, written by Vijayendra Prasad, was directed by SS Rajamouli , while starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Shriya Saran and others in key roles. The film, produced by DVV Danayya, which won the Oscar award for the song Naatu Naatu, is streaming on three platforms simultaneously - Disney+ Hotstar, ZEE5 (in all South Indian languages) and Netflix (in Hindi).

Pushpa The Rise, directed by Sukumar, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj and others, is streaming across five languages on Amazon Prime Video. The film was produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers and had music by Devi Sri Prasad. One needs to wait till 5 pm to know if there’ll be any surprises in this list.
