The much awaited trailer for the Netflix anthology series Navarasa released today. Even though the trailer does not reveal any information about the plots, it gives you an early glimpse into the enormity of the series.

Featuring many of the big names involved in the anthology, the trailer also cuts across the many emotions it deals with, effectively selling the theme of the anthology, which deals with the nine emotions of the navarasas.

The trailer opens with love, as Suriya talks about a girl he has met. In what looks like a classic Gautham Menon set up, the scene takes us back to the glorious love stories the director has brought to life in the past, like Vaaranam Aayiram. Following this, the trailer transports us into a grinder of emotions with fear, anger, hope, joy, hatred and many more, all flashing past our eyes.

The trailer also provides proof that the series will have segments from a variety of genres and talks about social and historically relevant issues like the Sri Lankan Tamil conflict. It also piques your curiosity with a shot of Arvind Swami in a contraption of some sort, hinting at the possibility of the sci-fi genre.

The anthology series is produced by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakeshan through their respective banners Madras Talkies and Qube Cinema Technologies. The series will see some of the country's top directors, actors and technicians coming together.

Priyadarshan, Gautham Menon, Karthick Naren, Karthik Subbaraj, Bejoy Nambiar, Vasanth, Sarjun K M, Rathindran Prasad and Aravind Swamy are the directors involved in the project, which will premiere on Netflix on August 9.
