Just over a year after it released in theatres, director Ramenahalli Jagannatha’s Hondisi Bareyiri is finally getting its television premiere. The satellite rights of the film had been picked up by Zee Network. Hondisi Bareyiri will come to Zee Picchar for its world television premiere on February 24 at 6 pm. The coming-of-age drama about a bunch of college friends is also available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Hondisi Bareyiri, which stars Praveen Tej, Naveen Shankar, Shri, Archana Jois, Bhavana Raaoh, Aishani Shetty and Samyukta Hornad in pivotal roles, is based on the lives of a few college friends and the struggles they face along the way to adulthood, while also making sense of complex relationships.

Jagannatha’s Hondisi Bareyiri follows five engineering college students in a college in Davanagere: Kumar (Shri), Ranjith (Naveen Shankar), Jagan (Praveen Tej), Soma (Anirudh Acharya), and Saniha (Aishani Shetty). The story spans over 12 years, a time in which they move on from college to jobs and responsibilities. This tale of living life to the fullest also explores the people who enter and exit their lives, and what happens as a result of this.

Hondisi Bareyiri was widely lauded for its simple narration, with no over-the-top moments. Even the campus moments were told in relatable fashion, without action blocks or chest-thumping elevations. Told in flashback when the five friends meet again, Hondisi Bareyiri had got a lot of positive feedback, but despite that, the team struggled to retain it in theatres.

The pairing of Naveen Shankar and KGF fame Archana Jois was much talked about, so much so that they were yet again put together in Kshetrapathi. While Praveen and Shri have not had significant releases since, Naveen was one of the main antagonists of Dhananjaya’s Gurudev Hoysala, a role that won the actor a lot of praise. He was later also seen in a pivotal role in Prashant Neel’s Ugramm adaptation, Salaar: Ceasefire.
