2022 has been a mixed bag for Naga Chaitanya. While it began on an optimistic note with the success of the entertainer Bangarraju, the other releases - Vikram K Kumar’s Thank You and his Hindi debut Laal Singh Chaddha - didn’t live upto expectations. After a break, the actor is moving onto his next project, NC22, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual to be directed by Maanadu maker Venkat Prabhu.
NC22 is the first straight Telugu film for Venkat Prabhu, whose films like Saroja, Biryani and Mankatha were dubbed into the language in the past. Another first for the film is the fact that Naga Chaitanya will be donning a khaki in the actioner. While the two were to collaborate on the Telugu remake of Maanadu initially, they decided to work on a fresh script after a few discussions.
Krithi Shetty plays the female lead in the bilingual that was formally launched with a pooja ceremony a few weeks ago. Much to the relief of movie buffs, the makers of NC22 unveiled a new update about the film today - the shoot is all set to commence tomorrow. For the first time ever, Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja will be coming together to score the album.
“With all ur love and blessings beginning my next #VP11 tomorrow with @chay_akkineni #NC22 @SS_Screens YES the shoot begins tomorrow @ilaiyaraaja @thisisysr,” Venkat Prabhu confirmed the news. He also shared a poster featuring a silhouette of Naga Chaitanya wearing the cop uniform amid a backdrop filled with reds and blacks, hinting at a crime scene in the film.
The shoot of NC22 will commence at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Srinivasaa Chitturi of Srinivasaa Silver Screen, who recently produced Ram Pothineni’s The Warriorr, is bankrolling the bilingual. Pavan Kumar is the presenter. Abburi Ravi pens the dialogues the film that’ll reportedly feature many notable actors. Naga Chaitanya is also in talks with Tharun Bhascker for another cop drama.
