NEEK box office collection day 2: Dhanush’s third outing as director makes decent numbers but couldn’t zoom past Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon

Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK), the Tamil film which marks actor Dhanush's third directorial, hit the big screens this weekend. The film, which features a fresh cast and crew, has collected Rs 2.65 crore at the box office during its two days of run so far.

Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam is a 2025 Tamil film, written and directed by Dhanush. The film released on February 21 in theatres. It features a young cast, with Dhanush's nephew and debutant Pavish leading the film. Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam has collected Rs 2.65 crore during its two days of run. While it collected Rs 1.15 crore on first day, it earned slightly more on the following day with Rs 1.5 crore, as per Sacnilk report.

Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam also features Anikha Surendran, Matthew Thomas, Priya Prakash Varrier, Rabiya Khatoon, Ramya Ranganathan and Venkatesh Menon, along with senior actors like Sarathkumar, Naren, and Saranya Ponvannan. GV Prakash has scored the music with Dhanush backing the film under Wunderbar Films.

NEEK to have a sequel

The film revolves around a young couple in love who break up for a reason. When the boy attends the girl’s wedding to show his will power that he has moved on, the drama begins.

The ending of NEEK suggests that the film will have sequel to follow. The film’s ending title card teases NEEK 2- Love is in the air, potentially hinting that Dhanush will make a follow-up film to continue the stories of the characters.

NEEK opened to mixed reviews upon its release, with many praising Matthew Thomas’ performance in the film. “Even as the film may have some middling parts, NEEK is that one enjoyable, no-frills entertainer that delivers exactly what the director promised you with --- “jolly-ah vanga, jolly-ah ponga,” reads OTTplay review.
