Actress Neena Gupta talks about her 40-year-long journey in Bollywood and recalls instances that made her feel uncomfortable.

Neena Gupta is one of the most refined and polished actresses in Bollywood. She has been a part of the film industry for over 40 years and continues to win the love of people with her stellar performances. Some of her iconic performances are in movies like Gandhi (1982), Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Woh Chokri (1994), Badhaai Ho (2018), and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (2020) to name a few.
Recently, she was seen in the web-series titled, Lust Stories 2 and her performance is being loved by people across generations.
Nowadays, she is basking under the success of her movies. She even wrote an autobiography detailing her journey in the industry. In it, Neena Gupta shared about her scary casting couch experience.
Recalling the incident, Neena wrote that she received a call from the producer, who worked in the South Indian film industry, who asked her to see him at a hotel. After finishing her performance at the Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai's Juhu, she went to see the producer as the hotel was close by.
She also mentioned, "My basic instinct told me to not go upstairs. That I should ask him to come down to the lobby instead". But Neena reached there anyhow out of fear of missing the chance.
Later, she climbed up the staircase and sat in a room. After an intense discussion, she got to know that she was essaying only a small role in the film. Minutes later, she started winding up when the producer allegedly asked her, “Aren't you going to spend the night here?' Suddenly, I felt like someone had just poured a bucket of ice water on my head. Khoon sookh gaya," Neena wrote in her autobiography.
The producer then held her bag tightly, following which Neena ran out of the place.
Neena Gupta is the mother of popular fashion designer Masaba Gupta. She will soon be seen in Lara Dutta starrer Ishq-E-Nadaan. This movie will be released on July 14 only on Jio Cinemas.
