When we see Shahana Goswami's works, we almost always find ourselves overcome with a sense of surprise. Throughout her 17-year career, the actor has always given strong performances, whether it is in the films Rock On (2008), Tu Hai Mera Sunday (2016), or the Netflix series Bombay Begums (2021).
Shahana is now preparing for the release of Neeyat, and she has stated that she is seeking creative partnerships that will suit her needs. The actor told Mid Day that when one is an actor, they are always on the lookout for interesting roles and compelling stories to convey. Through the lens of a character, she wants to investigate a variety of feelings and realities. Now, before she works on a project, Shahana tries to envision the kinds of creative partnerships she could form with other people. It's not about how much time one gets on screen; it's about how much responsibility they take on for a story. The actor wants to feel like the head of a department that has greater agency.
Neeyat is the answer to all of those questions. The plot of the film, which also starred Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, and Prajakta Koli, centred on a birthday celebration that took a sinister turn when the patriarch of the family was killed. Vidya Balan played the lead role in the film. Shahana notes that although she had a great time reading her very first murder mystery, she hasn't been allowed to read a very wide variety of genres.
The actor claimed she is very funny, but no one is interested in roping her in for comedic roles. Neither do the makers provide her with an unfavourable part. She wishes to experiment with a variety of genres. Shahana has produced a lot of stuff targeted at a specific subset of the population, but now she wants to broaden her appeal. Her first move in that regard was to try her hand at directing, which Anu Menon did. The filmmaker had a particular plan in mind for Neeyat. Additionally, the movie has a compelling narrative, but what makes it work are the individuals.
Neeyat is set for a theatrical release on July 7, 2023.
