The long-delayed release is written and directed by Caarthick Raju
Regina Cassandra, who rose to prominence with several impressive performances in Telugu and Tamil films in the initial phase of her career, has now gone onto make a mark in Hindi films and OTT shows as well. One of her long-delayed films, Nene Naa, helmed by Ninu Veedani Needanu Nene maker Caarthick Raju, had a limited release in August and evoked a modest response in theatres.
After a brief theatrical run, Nene Naa is now out on OTT. Leading Tamil,Telugu OTT platform aha acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the thriller and decided to premiere it on Friday i.e. September 22. While the team waited long for it to hit screens, perhaps the film is likely to get its due in the digital medium, with the wide reach of aha across the globe.
The story revolves around Divya (Regina Cassandra), a promising archaeologist, who helps cops in Nalgonda to crack a murder mystery in the middle of a forest. The investigation opens a can of secrets, resulting in a series of murders. Who’s behind the crimes? What connects Divya to these incidents? Nene Naa promises to be a chilling thriller packed with delicious twists.
Nene Naa has a strong lineup featuring several familiar faces including Akshara Gowda, Vennela Kishore, JP, Thagabothu Ramesh, Jiva Ravi, Michael, Rachapudi Kaushik, Yogi and Ravi Raja. The thriller was produced by Raj Shekar Varma under Apple Tree Studios. The film was simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil. Sam CS scored the music while Gokul Benoy cranked the camera.
Sabu Joseph edited the film and Ramajogayya Sastry was the sole lyricist. Super Subburayan supervised the stunts, Seenu is the art director and Sheriff is the choreographer respectively. Regina had multiple releases apart from Nene Naa in 2023 including the web series Farzi, Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke and the Tamil film Karungaapiyam (alongside Kajal Aggarwal).
