Neru, the courtroom drama that features Mohanlal in the lead role, has emerged as one of the biggest box office successes of 2023, and the winner of Christmas season. The movie, which is helmed by acclaimed director Jeethu Joseph, succeeded in dethroning other big releases of the season, including Prabhas-starrer Salaar and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. Now, Neru has entered the prestigious Rs 50-crore club of Malayalam cinema. The movie has now also emerged as the fifth highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2023.

The Malayalam superstar, who is currently on a high with the massive success of his latest outing, took to his social media handles and dropped a special post, confirming the massive box office collection of the film. Mohanlal shared a brand new poster of the courtroom drama on his official handles with a special caption that reads: “#Neru crosses 50 crores at the box office worldwide! Heartfelt thanks to audiences everywhere for the love, and kudos to the entire crew!”

Thus, the leading man has also officially ended the long-standing speculations on the box office collections of Neru and the social media fans' fights that followed. As per the latest updates, the Jeethu Joseph directorial has made a total collection of over Rs 30 crore from the Kerala box office alone. The movie has made around Rs 3 crore from the Rest of India's box office and approximately Rs 17 crore from the overseas box office. The courtoom drama, which is jointly penned by Jeethu Joseph and actress-writer Santhi Mayadevi, features Mohanlal in the role of advocate Vijayamohan. The movie features a stellar star cast including Anaswara Rajan, Priyamani, Siddique, Jagadish, KB Ganesh Kumar, Sree Dhanya, Kalesh Ramanand, Nandu, Santhi Mayadevi, Krishna Prabha, Aditi Ravi, and others in pivotal roles. Satheesh Kurup handled the cinematography. The Mohanlal-starrer, which is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, is slated to have its OTT release in January 2024 on Disney+ Hotstar.
