Audiences will get to witness Drishyam duo Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph’s upcoming film Neru soon in theatres. As a prelude to the movie’s theatrical release on December 21, the team has dropped a new poster featuring its lead actors Mohanlal and Priyamani, who play lawyers in the movie.

Incidentally, the courtroom drama also has an interesting connection to their previous film together – Grandmaster, which was released in 2012 and was directed by B Unnikrishnan.

What’s common between Priyamani’s characters in Neru and Grandmaster

The new poster, unveiled by Mohanlal, features the Lucifer star along with Priyamani in their uniforms. They appear in intense poses and one cannot miss the striking resemblance of Priyamani’s character from her role in 2012 Mohanlal-starrer Grandmaster, in which she also played a lawyer.

In the 2012 film, she essays the role of advocate Deepthi Chandrasekar, who is the ex-wife of Mohanlal’s character. Neru will mark their first collaboration in a decade since the thriller.

Mohanlal will also be playing a lawyer after 13 years with Neru. His previous role as an advocate was in Janakan. On the whole, the poster hints at an intense courtroom drama with the two protagonists at loggerheads and promises to deliver a classic Jeethu Joseph style intense drama. Neru also features actors Jagadish, Siddique, Anaswara Rajan and Ganesh Kumar, in pivotal roles.

Jeethu Joseph begins shoot of Basil Joseph’s Nunakuzhi

Meanwhile, Jeethu has already begun shooting for a dark comedy titled Nunakuzhi, which has Basil Joseph. The first-look poster of the film, which was released a few weeks ago, had the tagline: ‘Liar’s Day Out’, with a signpost referencing dialogues from Malayalam pop culture.

Jeethu had earlier revealed that he is exploring a dark comedy with this upcoming Basil starrer, which is different from his usual films of the thriller genre. The film is written by KR Krishnakumar, who had previously worked with him in 12th Man and Kooman. Additional details about the film’s plot are still under wraps.
