Mohanlal’s performance

The superstar, who has also been considered one of the finest acting talents of Indian cinema, delivered a memorable performance as Adv. Vijayamohan in Neru. The veteran actor astonished the audiences with his intricate portrayal of a senior advocate, his inner turmoil, and insecurities, to near perfection. It has been a pleasure for Malayalam cinema audiences to watch Mohanlal, the actor on celluloid after so long.

A powerful courtroom drama

The biggest plus point of Neru is that the movie stays true to its genre. As director Jeethu Joseph stated before the release, the Mohanlal-starrer won hearts with its almost realistic portrayal of court proceedings. Most importantly, the film discussed an important topic from the survivor’s point of view and made a strong statement. The movie never ever reduces itself to yet another star vehicle. Instead, it emerged as a very well-made film which is backed by a strong script.

Anaswara Rajan as Sara

The young actress delivered the finest performance so far in Neru, as the blind sculptor named Sara. Anaswara Rajan made Sara believable and relatable with her nuanced portrayal of the character, with the right balance of emotions. She took the audience through the various emotions of her character with her sincere act. Especially, Anaswara’s performance in the exceptional climax of the Jeethu Joseph directorial won many hearts.

The stellar supporting cast

It is an absolute pleasure to watch several senior actors of the Malayalam cinema setting the screens on fire yet again with their impeccable performances, along with a bunch of talented young actors. Neru features a stellar supporting cast including Siddique, Jagadeesh, Priya Mani, KB Ganesh Kumar, Sree Dhanya, Nandhu, Santhi Mayadevi, Sankar Induchoodan, Kalesh Ramanand, Harikrishnan, Aditi Ravi, and many others.

The highly relevant theme

Most importantly, Neru discusses a highly relevant theme, which can be placed in any geography across the globe. The Mohanlal starrer narrates a survivor's fight for not just justice and the struggles that person goes through, with absolute conviction. The Jeethu Joseph directorial, however, not just discusses the legal fight of the survivor, but also narrates her journey to gaining the respect of the people around her, as well as the society, in the most dignified way.
