Netflix advances Nadikar OTT release date? When to stream Tovino Thomas’ entertainer

Tovino Thomas’ latest Malayalam movie Nadikar, which is directed by Jean Paul Lal and also has Bhavana and Soubin Shahir in pivotal roles, is all set for its OTT release. While we had recently reported that the film’s digital rights were bagged by Netflix, it now seems that the platform is gearing up for its streaming release this week.

Recent reports suggested that Nadikar will drop on the global streaming platform on June 27, but it now seems that Netflix has fastracked its OTT release and Nadikar is set to begin streaming from June 21 in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Tovino Thomas plays a superstar in Nadikar

Nadikar marked the second collaboration between Tovino and Pushpa producers Mythri Movie Makers after Dr Biju Adrishya Jalakangal, which is also streaming on Netflix. Though the Tovino, Soubin-starrer didn’t create an impact at the box office, the makers would be hoping that the movie gets praised by the audience after its OTT release.

The film, which also has Ranjith, Suresh Krishna and Anoop Menon in cameos, revolves around a superstar named David Padikkal, whose meteoric rise to the top, comes with its set of challenges. After a string of flops, David is pushed by his entourage to taking acting lessons from a theatre coach. But will David’s bloated ego come in the way of learning?

Tovino’s performance as David was praised by critics and audiences alike, even though the film’s script was found wanting. The highlight of the big-budget movie was its climax which overlapped the internal struggles of an actor and the character that he is playing, presenting a meta ending, made all the more memorable by the Minnal Murali star’s portrayal.

Tovino Thomas to team up with Hombale Films next?

Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Tovino is all set to team up for KGF and Kantara producers Hombale Films’ next, which will be helmed by Muhsin Parari. The actor had also recently announced his next project titled Avaran , which is directed by Shilpa Alexander and is scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam.

Tovino is also part of the much-awaited second instalment of the Lucifer franchise, L2: Empuraan, in which he will reprise his role of political scion Jatin Das.
