Following the war between Russia and Ukraine, many companies and media have stopped their services in Russia. Joining them is the OTT platform Netflix. It is one of the largest companies to discontinue its services in the country. Not only the giant streaming platform but the popular video platform TikTok has also called off its services in the country.

Netflix said it is discontinuing the services as they believe, according to Mint, that they will not have any new customers signing up on the platform and they are not sure about the existing accounts. The service has more than 1 million customers in Russia.

Tiktok has also suspended its live streaming there due to the country's 'fake news' laws, aiming to silence and limit information about the ongoing war. The company had announced in tweets, "We have no choice but to suspend live streaming and new content to our video service while we review the safety implications of this law."
