Netflix dropped a video on their YouTube channel on Monday, July 5, announcing the return of the series, She. Created and written by Imtiaz Ali and Divya Johri, the series initially aired in 2020, garnering a good response from critics and audiences alike. The series is directed by Arif Ali and Avinash Das.
The announcement video follows the snippets of cast and crew setting up for the shoot with a behind the scenes montage. The announcement video was captioned as, “The tables have turned. She is back to embrace the chaos."
Imtiaz Ali also took to his social media pages to share the news with the caption, “She's treading dangerous waters, but be warned: anything she does will definitely stir up a storm.
Excited to share that She Season 2 is now filming.”
The crime drama series follows Aditi Pohankar as Bhumika Pardesi, a female constable without a life of her own as she is forced to take care of her family - from her sick mother to her drunk husband and a sister who is studying. The Anti Narcotics Group sends her undercover as a prostitute to bring down Sasya (Vijay Varma), an elusive drug dealer and his cartel. The show explores several themes around sex and women using their body as a weapon, as Bhumika finds herself to be something more than a meek woman to be subdued by forces around her.
Aditi Pohankar also took to social media to share the news with the caption, “More drama, more intensity, and so much more power. If you think you’re prepared for what Bhumika does next, think again.
Hold on to your seats, She Season 2 is now filming.”
Season one of She consists of seven episodes and is available to stream on Netflix.
