Netflix brings back Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s comedy series Servant of the People

Netflix announced that it's bringing back Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s satirical political comedy series, Servant of the People, back to its library.

The streaming platform, in a tweet, implied that this decision was motivated by popular demand. 

The tweet also describes the show: "The 2015 satirical comedy series stars Volodymyr Zelenskyy playing a teacher who unexpectedly becomes President after a video of him complaining about corruption suddenly goes viral."

According to Bloomberg, the show ended in 2019 and features Zelenskyy, a former entertainer who went on to get a law degree from Kyiv Economic University. He had a landslide victory in the 2019 Ukrainian presidential elections. 

Verge writes that Zelenskyy had promised to build a new Ukraine, and told his supporters, "I will never fail you."

The report adds that following Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, began an increasing interest in Servant of the People, especially after Zelenskyy took to arms and urged regular citizens to join the resistance. 

Zelenskyy has also voiced the Paddington bear in the Ukrainian versions of the films before.
