Netflix CEO recalls Shah Rukh Khan’s warm hospitality; praises Aryan Khan's directorial debut

The B**ds of Bollywood is Aryan Khan's upcoming directorial debut, and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos recently shared insights on the series and discussed his pleasant recollections of meeting Shah Rukh Khan. Sarandos discussed his early days in India and the impact the superstar had on him on the podcast of entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath.

Ted Sarandos reflects on meeting Shah Rukh Khan

Sarandos was fast to brush off the question of whether he had a favourite Indian creator. He said that it's like choosing a beloved child from among one's own offspring; he worked with too many to choose just one.

One of his first and most unforgettable experiences in India, though, was meeting Shah Rukh Khan. Sarandos remarked, "Early in coming to India, I met Shah Rukh Khan right away. He hosted a very nice little dinner for me, and we just hit it off immediately."

Dining with Shah Rukh Khan in India vs Los Angeles

The chief content officer of Netflix and the Bollywood superstar have become close friends over the years. Sarandos continued, "We visited each other in Los Angeles when his son was in school." As a result, for Netflix head honcho, dining with Shah Rukh in India is very different from dining with him in Los Angeles. He said that SRK is most familiar with and loves working with that person.

Shah Rukh Khan's eldest son, Aryan, attended USC in Los Angeles for his bachelor's degree in 2020, with a focus on film and television production. The B**ds of Bollywood will premiere on Netflix India and mark his first foray into the realms of creation, writing, directing, and showrunning.

Ted Sarandos praises Aryan Khan’s directorial skills

Sarandos stated, offering his thoughts on the impending show, that so far, he has viewed the first two episodes and found it hilarious. He added, "I think people in India and people outside of India know nothing about the inner workings of Bollywood. So it’s a really fun world. He’s (Aryan) a very good director."

According to the series synopsis on Netflix, the ambitious outsider and his friends navigate the turbulent, extravagant, and unpredictable world of Bollywood in this high-stakes thriller. Shah Rukh Khan's label, Red Chillies Entertainment, produced the show. Fans are getting more and more excited about the project, even though details about the actors are yet unknown.

Bard of Blood (2019), an Emraan Hashmi-starring spy thriller, and Betaal (2020), a zombie horror series, are the two prior projects that Red Chillies Entertainment has worked on with Netflix India. Being Aryan Khan's debut feature film as a storyteller, The B**ds of Bollywood signifies their third collaboration.
