In a long-term creative partnership, Netflix and Balaji Telefilms Ltd., owned by Ekta Kapoor, will work together on several projects aimed at streaming viewers.

Commitment to unique and high-quality storytelling across formats

Both firms are committed to delivering unique and high-quality storytelling in various formats and genres, and this new relationship is a big step in that direction. The partnership calls for new productions from Balaji Telefilms Ltd and its subsidiaries, Balaji Motion Pictures and Balaji Telefilms Digital, with an eye towards material that will strike a chord with viewers in India and throughout the world.

Kathal, Pagglait, Jaane Jaan, and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare are just a few of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful productions that the two firms have collaborated on in the past. An as-yet-untitled series is now in production as part of the forthcoming slate under this new arrangement.

Netflix India's perspective on the partnership

The partnership is an obvious progression, according to Monika Shergill, VP of content at Netflix India. Ekta's iconic stories and characters significantly influenced the Indian entertainment industry even before the term "hashtag" emerged. For over twenty years, Ekta has been instrumental in moulding India's television viewing habits thanks to her innate creativity and keen sense of viewer sentiment, according to Shergill. She said that this partnership will bring fresh stories told in authentic ways, marking an exciting new chapter in our creative journey at Netflix, where we strive to cater to audiences with incredibly varied tastes.

Ekta Kapoor on the significance of the collaboration

The cooperation was also discussed by Ekta, who is the Joint Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms. She said storytelling has been central to everything they do since Balaji Telefilms began. She exclaimed that collaborating with Netflix, the preeminent storytelling platform globally recognised for its top-notch content and ongoing innovation, was a monumental achievement for our company. It enables them to share stories with a worldwide audience that are strong, deeply anchored in culture, and emotionally impactful. They are excited to embark on this new phase of our partnership, where they will explore new creative frontiers and produce content that delights, motivates, and brings people together globally.
