Netflix has renewed The Umbrella Academy for a fourth season, which will also be the final one. The Umbrella Academy creator, executive producer, and showrunner Steve Blackman expressed his excitement to Variety that the show's devoted viewers would be able to witness the appropriate conclusion to the Hargreeves siblings' adventure that they started five years ago. But before they come to that climax, season four is going to have an extraordinary plot that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats right up to the very end.

With plans to collaborate on several new projects, Netflix has also revealed its overall agreement with Blackman and his recently established Irish Cowboy production label. A series adaptation of the PlayStation game Horizon Zero Dawn and the original series Orbital are two that are already in production. Below is further information on those initiatives. Abbey Morris has joined Irish Cowboy as Blackman's senior vice president of development. Morris had previously worked for Fabrik Entertainment as an executive.

Season 4's episode count was not addressed by Netflix, but many reports claim that it will be less than the previous 10-episode seasons of the show. The Umbrella Academy's third season debuted on Netflix in June. Seasons 2 and 1 will follow in 2020 and 2019, respectively. The series is based on the identically named graphic novels by Gabriel Bá and Gerard Way. It centres on an adopted family of superpowered siblings who is attempting to avert the end of the planet.

For Season 4, the cast will be joined by returning actors: Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore. Jesse McKeown will work as an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Blackman, who will continue to act as the show's creator. The show's executive producers also include Beau Bauman, Keith Goldberg, Scott Stuber, Mike Richardson, and Keith Goldberg, with Way and Bá serving as co-executive producers. The studio is UCP.

According to Blackman, Orbital and Horizon Zero Dawn are elevated, event-level projects built around characters that fans will like and connect with. They are excited to be collaborating with Netflix and all of their partners on creating these ground-breaking stories.
