A limited series based on the life of former US President John F Kennedy is currently in the works at Netflix, as per the latest reports. According to Variety, Killers of the Flower Moon writer Eric Roth is attached to write and executive producer the show which will be based on Fredrik Logevall's non-fiction book, JFK: Coming Of Age In The American Century, 1917-1956.
The report adds that Netflix conceives the series along the lines of one of its biggest successes to date, The Crown, which follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The Crown, created by Peter Morgan, is known for its vivid, incisive and equally dramatic telling of some of the most alluring moments in the life of Queen Elizabeth II's life, which is juxtaposed against post-war Britain.
Alongside, the show gained popularity for its employment of multiple actors to portray the central character, with Claire Foy playing the younger version in the first two seasons, Olivia Coleman as the middle-aged version of the character and Imelda Staunton for the later years. Would the new JFK series follow the same pattern? Well, there's no clarity yet in that regard.
John F. Kennedy served as the president of the United States from 1961 till his tragic assassination in 1963. Noted as one of the key figures in modern American history, Kennedy's life and his untimely death, in particular, have been subjects of several books and films including Oliver Stone's seminal 1991 film, JFK.
Coming to Eric Roth, the veteran screenwriter's work will soon be on display in the form of Killers of the Flower Moon, which he co-wrote (based on the non-fiction book by David Grann) with film's director Martin Scorsese. Roth has previously won an Academy Award for Best Screenplay for Forrest Gump and has a total of six Oscar nominations to his name. Some of his other major credits as a screenwriter include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Munich, The Insider and Dune.
