Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film Toofaan has been in the news in recent weeks. The film is gearing up for a release on July 16. The film features Farhan in the role of a local goon. It talks about Aziz Ali (Farhan)’s journey as he rises in ranks to become a successful boxing champion, all in the name of love and respect. The rags-to-riches story set in Dongri is about the boxer and his love interest Dr. Pooja Shah, portrayed by Mrunal Thakur. She motivates him to leave his life as a gangster and become a boxing champion. However, netizens seem to be triggered by the love angle in the story between the two. This led to Twitterati trending a boycott call for Toofaan on social media this Saturday.

Several netizens took to their social media to share their thoughts and views on the interfaith love story portrayed between the characters. Many users also expressed their discontentment with the same and called for a boycott of the film saying it goes against our culture.
