Netizens upset with Malaika Arora for wearing a Balenciaga outfit amid all the controversy surrounding the brand

Malaika Arora has come under fire for wearing a Balenciaga dress at the birthday celebration of fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

She wore Balenciaga's shimmering silver dress and accessorised it with thigh-high black boots. She carried a black bag and left her hair loose. Netizens disapproved of her decision and referred to her as "disgusting" and "shameful" for endorsing a company that has recently been accused of promoting child abuse in an advertisement.

One social media user commented, “Wearing Balenciaga??? Really ?? I am totally against cancel culture but not when it comes to child pornography . This brand needs to be cancelled for good and a celebrity, you need to do it first.”  

“She literally could not have picked any other designer to wear?! Absolutely shameful. Yet another reason not to look at celebs as role models…”, commented another user.

After a questionable ad campaign that included children, the high-end fashion label Balenciaga was embroiled in controversy. In a picture that quickly became popular, a young girl was seen cuddling a teddy bear while sporting a padlocked choker. A girl is shown cuddling a teddy bear and sporting what appears to be a BDSM-inspired attire in another campaign shot.

Balenciaga issued an apology for the campaign in its Instagram story following harsh social media response. The brand said, “We sincerely apologise for any offense our holiday campaign may have caused. Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.”

They apologised for displaying unsettling documents during their campaign, their statement continued to read. They are initiating legal action against the parties in charge of building the set and incorporating unauthorised elements for their Spring '23 Campaign photoshoot since they take this issue very seriously. They vehemently oppose all forms of child abuse. They advocate for the protection and welfare of children, they mentioned.
