Netrikann: The title track of the Nayantara thriller is as engaging as its trailer

The title track from Netrikann has dropped. The highly-anticipated movie has Nayanthara, playing a visually impared woman. Directed by Milind Rau, the thriller will premiere on Disney + Hotstar.

The song written by Vignesh Shivn, is composed by Girish Gopalakrishnan. Sung by Poorvi Koutish, the song is a highly engaging one. Starting off at a slow pace, the track slowly gathers pace until the drop, which breaks all the pressure built up until then. The track is good for repeated listening. The song complements the movie from what we saw from its trailer.

Netrikann tells the story of a visually-impared woman, who is the only one that can implicate a serial killer in a series of abductions he has carried out. The trailer also showed the confident serial killer, played by Ajmal Ameer, deciding to make a blind Nayantara his next victim, only for her to reveal she is not as vulnerable as she may seem. 

Directed by Milind Rau, Netrikann marks Vignesh Shivan’s debut as a producer under the banner of Rowdy Pictures. Vignesh has previously helmed movies such as Podaa Podi and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam. Vignesh has also directed Naanum Rowdydhaan which starred Vijay Sethupathy and Nayanthara, who played a woman with hearing disabilities in the movie.

Apart from Nayanthara and Ajmal Ameer, Netrikann also features Manikandan Achari and Saran in pivotal roles. R D Rajasekar is the director of photography and Lawrence Kishore is the editor.

The mystery thriller was earlier slated to release in theatres, but that did not happen due to the coronavirus pandemic. The movie will begin streaming on Disney + Hotstar from August 13 in four languages - Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada.
