Never Have I Ever's third season is now in production in Los Angeles, and Anirudh Pisharody has been cast in a recurring role. The Netflix comedy series, produced by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, is a coming-of-age comedy about the tumultuous life of Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), a high-achieving high school sophomore with a short fuse who gets herself into trouble. Pisharody will play Des, an Indian American youth who is as intellectual as Devi but attends an upscale private school.
Poorna Jagannathan, Darren Barnet, Jaren Lewison, Richa Moorjani, Ramona Young, and Lee Rodriguez also star in the Universal Television series, which is produced by Universal Studio Group. Kaling and Fisher executive produced it alongside Howard Klein and David Miner of 3 Arts Entertainment, with Fisher also serving as showrunner and writer.
Pisharody presently has a recurring role on Fox's hit procedural 9-1-1 as firefighter Ravi Panikkar. He's also been in The Goldbergs, Last Man Standing, and SEAL Team, among other shows.
Soon after the premiere of the second season, the makers announced that the series had been renewed for a third part. Kaling and Fisher said in a joint statement that they are so grateful to Netflix and Universal Television for allowing them to continue to tell this story, as well as to the viewers all around the world who clamored to see more of this misbehaving Indian girl.
In July, Season 2 premiered, focusing on heroine Devi's boy problems, teenage desperation, and rivalry with a new Indian student. She decides to take on both Paxton (Darren Barnet) and Ben (Jaren Lewison) as significant others when choosing between them becomes too difficult.
The filming of the third season of Never Have I Ever is happening in full swing, and the series is likely to stream later this year.
