In a pandemic-induced virtual event, the cast of Netflix’s hit show Never Have I Ever, which is co-created by Mindy Kaling and Linda Fischer, dropped the trailer of the much-awaited season two of the hilarious Desi representation series.
After much technical disruptions, the event saw Maitreyi Ramakrishnan in conversation with the two co-creators and other cast members, answering fan questions and playing a game of ‘who’s most likely to’.
The trailer dropped with an opening scene of Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) deliberating over the pros and cons she has made between the two boys she considers her prospective boyfriends: Ben (Jaren Lewison) and Paxton (Darren Barnet). She discusses this with her friends, Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) and Eleanor (Ramona Young). Is having two boyfriends the answer? The trailer also sees Eleanor and Fabiola exploring their romantic relationships.
Fans also got a look at the newest cast member, Megan Suri, who will be essaying the role of Aneesa, a “prettier, cooler” transfer Indian student and Common as Dr Chris Jackson, a dermatologist working with Dr Nalini Vishwakumar (Poorna Jagannathan). Did we see some spectacular sparks fly between these two?
Richa Moorjani will also be seen reprising her role as Kamala as she is seen strutting down the stairs in a hot pink nurse uniform with glitter on her face and advising Devi and Niecy Nash as Devi’s therapist in a snippet.
We absolutely loved the scene where Devi is seen saying, “My mom doesn’t tell me what to do; Megan Thee Stallion does” and can’t wait for the sarcasm coming our way from Nalini.
The new season is all set to release on July 17 on Netflix.
