Disney’s most fashionable, most prominent but also most evil villain, Cruella De Vil is back to spook adults and children alike in Disney’s new live-action feature film Cruella. The role of the titular character will be played by Academy Award winning actress Emma Stone. The second trailer for the film was released on Wednesday, featuring Stone setting out on a journey to seek revenge from her mean boss, played by Emma Thompson. In addition to the trailer, a brand new poster of the film which features Stone sporting a classic red lip and her signature black and white hair, was also released on April 7.

Premiering on Disney+ Hotstar in just seven weeks, Cruella’s new trailer has established the film as an origin story for Cruella De Vil- an aspiring designer who has been written in the history of films as a Dalmation-killing maniac. However, the trailer sheds light on how Cruella turned into the sinister fashion mogul audiences know her to be. Viewers are taken through the journey of Estella de Vil (Stone) who is working under fashionista Baroness con Hellman (Thompson), in the trailer. Hellman is a boss straight from hell- she cares very little about hurting those who are proving to be obstacles in her path and requires Estella to have a ‘killer instinct’ for the job.

When Estella is dismissed by her, she turns up to the latter’s party and chaos ensues. Fighting security, setting her white ensemble on fire to reveal a flaming red gown, donning her signature hair, Estella announces that she’s here to make a scene. With Doris Day’s ‘perhaps, perhaps, perhaps’ playing in the background, the trailer progresses to reveal Estella’s transformation into Cruella, containing glimpses of the dalmations she covets. Stone’s portrayal of Cruella is set to reanimate the villain in a way that leaves audiences enraptured.

Wreaking havoc across the streets of London, recruiting conmen and slaying the fashion industry with her over the top couture collections, Cruella is truly an iconic entity in the Disney universe. This comedy and crime live-action feature film has been directed by Craig Gillespie of I Tonya fame. It also stars Emily Beecham, Joel Fry, Kirkby Howell Baptiste, and Paul Walter Hausel.

Cruella will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar soon for Indian audiences to watch from the comfort of their homes.
